Hypothyroidism is a low functioning thyroid. It is measured by the Thyroid Stimulating Hormone (TSH) output which is released from the pituitary gland.

Here is a short video where I explain hypothyroidism, the symptoms, and what to look for in this thyroid condition.

When you have hypothyoidism, your TSH will be very high and that is why you will have hyperthyroid symptoms…slow metabolism, weight gain, sluggishness. This is because the pituitary gland is just trickling out TSH because of the feedback loop it receives from the hypothalamus in the brain.
